In todays Google Maps SEO Citation Video I walk through how to go to Google Drive and set up an .xlsx file targeting specific cities for Google My Maps. Ill show how to download a list and begin cleaning it up, removing unnecessary columns and making sure I had columns for the county name, state ID, city, longitude, latitude, and ZIP code.

Then, Ill show you how to add a column for the ‘Company’ and generate a lengthy company name including your brand name, alongside primary keywords to showcase the capabilities of Google Maps citations. I used Google My Maps to import this data and visually place pins across the map, noting that the maximum number of pins in one layer is 2,000.

I show you how to customize icons for the pins and demonstrated how to cover different regions, such as the entire state of Florida or individual counties. The process is useful for creating KML files and local citations on Google Maps, and it can be done free of charge and I think that is the best part!
